Aged Care
Guiding you through the aged care journey with support and clarity
Understanding Aged Care
Moving into aged care is a significant life transition, and it can feel overwhelming both emotionally and practically. Whether you’re planning for your own future or helping a parent or loved one, having clear guidance can make the process far less stressful.
Planning for aged care involves a number of complex decisions, from choosing the right aged care home to understanding how the process works and what it means financially. There are also important considerations around the family home and how different choices may affect your overall financial position.
We’re here to support you through each step, helping you understand your options so you can make informed decisions for yourself or your loved one.

How We Can Help You
When planning for, or transitioning into, aged care, it can be difficult to know where to start. Our Centrelink team, along with our aged care specialists, are here to make the process as seamless as possible, tackling the complexities so you don’t have to. We’ll help you understand every aspect of aged care planning, from knowing where you stand financially to providing guidance to make decisions that are aligned with your goals.
Managing The Finances
We can help you manage the financial implications of aged care planning, including:
Maximising Your Entitlements
We review your situation to identify steps that may increase your Centrelink or DVA payments and help you receive all eligible support.
Managing Your Assets
We explain how your assets are assessed and guide you through decisions such as keeping, selling or transferring assets, including the family home.
How Much You Pay
We break down the fees involved in aged care so you understand what they are, how they’re calculated and what they mean for your budget.
How Your Care is Funded
We outline ways to fund your care using your income, assets and government support, helping your long term financial security.

Identify Financial Considerations
Our team identifies opportunities which can be discussed with our experienced aged care financial advisers.
Choose the Right Care Option
We guide you through the choices to help you select the aged care arrangement that best suits your needs and circumstances.
Clarify Your Choices
We explain your available pathways in clear terms, ensuring you understand how each option may impact your situation.
1
Assessing Eligibility
We begin by organising an assessment with your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). A healthcare professional meets with you to understand your care needs and confirm your eligibility for government-funded services.
2
Finding the Right Aged Care Home
We help you explore and compare suitable aged care homes, taking into account your care needs, personal preferences and practical considerations like waitlists and location.
3
Understanding the Costs
We guide you through the full range of aged care costs and how they may be funded. This includes checking the fees you will pay based on your current means review, assessing how your social security entitlements may change, confirming you have adequate cashflow and helping you understand the Accommodation Agreement before signing.
4
Applying for Entry
We support you in applying to your preferred facilities and help manage the varying application processes. Once an offer is made, we assist you in reviewing and completing the Resident Agreement so you feel informed of the services, fees and responsibilities involved.
5
Moving in
We help you prepare for the transition by coordinating important financial and administrative requirements. The Accommodation Agreement must be finalised within 28 days of entry, and we ensure you understand what needs to be completed during this period.
6
Ongoing Costs and Obligations
After moving in, we help you stay on top of ongoing aged care fees, personal expenses and cashflow needs. We also support you in understanding relevant government updates that may affect your situation and keeping Centrelink or the DVA updated on any changes.
How We Charge
We typically charge an hourly rate of $220 for providing estimated costs of aged care and for general discussions related to aged care.
For the completion of aged care assessments, our services generally range between $880 and $1,760, depending on the complexity of your situation.
To ensure we provide you with an accurate quote for preparing your assessment, we offer a complimentary half-hour meeting with our Centrelink Services Team. Please contact us to arrange a time today.
